Here is a great strategy you can easily implement to create niche blog content on autopilot.  It’s also a great way to build up more index-able content on your Backlink Index Express indexer blogs.

Answering support questions about Backlink Index Express over the past year or so has given me valuable input and ideas about how to make backlink indexing better and more effective. The question I get most often is concerned with Google, and how the recent changes (Panda, etc.) have affected my backlink indexing strategy. Judging from my experience, and the experience of hundreds of customers giving their feedback, I’m happy to report that my original backlink indexing strategy is still alive and well, and is very effective.

The key to keeping your BIE network strong is content- regular, new content keeps Google coming back to your indexer blogs and indexing your links. And that is really the only thing you need to worry about; you want Google to keep coming. Note that your indexer blogs are NOT going to RANK in the SERPS – actually, you really don’t want them to rank. You want them regularly and slowly flying under the radar, passing your backlink url’s to Google.

Content Is King

Now if you read anything by just about anybody regarding SEO since Google’s Panda update, you will find that the only fact that all the gurus can agree upon is that Rich Content – and lots of it – is the key to keeping Google coming back to your site.

Now most of us populate our indexer blogs with content from Ezine Article feeds, and that does an admirable job of keeping the blogs current. But the EZA posts are very short in length, and with the advent of Google’s new search algorithms, I believe that more is needed to keep your blog network attractive to Google’s spiders. You don’t absolutely have to have longer (over 200-word) posts, but my research shows that it really helps keeping Google coming back.

Full-Length Content For Your Indexer Blogs

This is why I created two products to ‘Pump Up’ your content on your Indexer Blogs. First, I created PostFeedr to add rich content to your blog network. PostFeedr pulls article content from some of the major article directories and posts that content directly to your blog network. My customers are always the best source for new ideas. A while back, one of my customers requesting support on my help desk asked if there was a way to integrate two of my products, Backlink Index Express and PingFeedr. I was a bit embarrassed to admit that while it was a great idea, I had not even thought of it before. A Quick Background

I get questions about link posting rates and numbers of links all the time.  I have answered this question so many times on the support desk, I thought it was time to post on the blog.  So how do you determine how many links Backlink Index Express can post in a day?  Well, it’s pretty simple, you have 2 variables to work with:

1. Cron Job Frequency – how often BIE runs
2. Links per post – a setting in the config.php file.

So let’s do a sample calculation.  Let’s assume that you are running  your cron job every 10 minutes (the recommended frequency) and are adding 5 links per post (the recommended maximum number).  Now we need to do some math here – we are doing a cron job every 10 minutes, so that means we are doing 6 runs per hour (60 minutes):

60  / 10 = 6

Now, we simply multiply 6 x 24 hours = 144 posts per day:

6 x 24 = 144

Now, if we are posting 5 links per post, we just multiply our 144 above by 5:

5 x 144 = 720

So we are posting 720 links per 24 hour period.  Now, if you want to increase the number of links per day, you could speed up the cron job to every 5 minutes, that would effectively double your posting rate, to 1440 links per day.  Increasing the number of links per post has the same effect.

Now you do get diminishing returns on this – your web host will not like it if you cron BIE more than every 5 minutes, and if you attach too many links per post, Google will not likely spider them all when it comes to visit.  So it is better to not push BIE past the limits set out in the Best Practices Guide (included with your BIE purchase).

The best way to scale for more links is to use multiple instances of BIE – run more than one BIE install and post to a large blog network – this works well for large volume linkers, and is the method used by many large backlinking services that utilize Backlink Index Express as part of their service.

If you have been running Backlink Index Express for a while- you know that it’s the best backlinks software out there.  A couple of my key design parameters when designing BIE was portability and automation.  I created Backlink Index Express to use text files instead of a database to store the program’s data.  I did this so you could quickly and easily move your install from server to server with just an FTP client.

I also wanted the product to be automated: just keep feeding the program backlinks and it just runs – and runs.  But one problem with these 2 design parameters – sometimes they are just not compatible, particularly for users with zillions of links.  As the program marches on, day after day, the files can get pretty big – and that will cause BIE to slow down.

Backlinks Index Express reads the files into memory – and that takes resources.  Most users won’t have any problem leaving your BIE install alone – but if you are processing lots of links, you’ll have to do a little maintenance to your /data folder periodically.

Using your FTP client, check the sizes of your BIE data files – if they are getting larger than 200K bytes – it’s time to do a little maintenance.  Look at your /data directory – the files that matter are the mylinks.txt, posts.txt and the postedlinks.txt:

If those are getting over 200K, you need to download them – (Keep a Backup!) and use a text editor to truncate or remove the top 1/2 of the lines in the file.  Chances are those entries have either been posted and indexed, or will never get indexed since they are old.

Now only do this if our BIE is running slow – run indexexpress.php in the browser, if takes more than 25-30 seconds to process, your files need trimming.

Also – you need to periodically clean out the /rsscache folder, as this folder can grow to a large size, and on some web hosts, BIE  can’t clean it out automatically.  So if you have lots of files in your /rsscache folder for BIE, delete them out.

I created Backlink Index Express on behalf of backlink builders all over the world who wanted an automated way to boost their forum backlinks so they get indexed by the search engines.
