Carl,
I have followed some of your posts over on Moodle and here on your site. It is good to see that you are offering a solution to the Moodle ecommerce saga.
About 2-3 years ago I worked with Alex at aMember to do the first aMember/Moodle integration. It was a lot of work but it really added all the features your ecommerce heart could desire. I actually got a fair amount of flack from the Moodle open source purists for promoting buying a $170 software program instead of funding someone to add this functionality to Moodle. As you know, getting everybody on Moodle to work together to actually provide an e-commerce solution is about like herding cats.
I am putting together another Moodle site and need to add e-commerce functionality in the not too distant future. I could go the aMember/Moodle route (the plug in is still supported) but it is not an easy integration and each time there is a Moodle upgrade you keep your fingers crossed that Alex will update the aMember plug-in also.
I am very interested in your e-junkie solution. I just have two questions/concerns, which are:
Any Example Websites
Do you have any websites that are using this integration that I could take a look at. It would be real reassuring to see this in action in the wild.
Do You Plan to Support Future Moodle Upgrades?
I see you are not going to use Moodle to power your own online courses, so I am curious about your plans in the future to continue with the e-Junkie/Moodle project. I would assume if you sell a significant amount of training based on the current integration you would support the integration of Moodle 2.0 and beyond. I know you can’t make a promise on this, but would like to know your prediction on future support for this integration.
Thanks again for providing an actual solution to a long standing problem!
Grant
Thanks for the comments, Grant. I’m afraid the answers to your questions are ‘no’ and ‘no’. I can check with some of my customers and see if they want to share their sites. And no, I’m not going to work with Moodle any more- this procedure should be viewed as a ‘hack’, not a module. I’ve played with Moodle enough to know that it won’t ever be a viable commerical solution. What we need is an open source, php-based Scorm runtime environment that can be plugged in to any application - that would dispense with the need for Moodle.
